Liz Jamieson-Hastings’s inspirational story is one of privilege and social advantage preceding a spectacular fall from grace. In her devastatingly honest tale of personal survival, Liz shows what hope, honesty, hard work and the generous help of true friends can achieve.
Alcoholism is a problem Liz knows about only too well. She has been dealing with the problem both personally, as a recovering alcoholic, and on a professional basis as a respected councillor/educator for over 20 years. Liz has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse programmes in schools and Paremoremo maximum security prison in Auckland, and even the US Navy. She has some pragmatic and practical advice for those concerned with New Zealand’s drinking problem, which she discusses in her recently published autobiography, Still Standing: From debutante to detox.
